My Way

Why do you say
I'll change my way,
Some day?
Simply go away,
Life is gay!
He'll stay,
He won't go away,
I pray.
Don't try to sway,
What I say.
My way,
May be cliche,
But it's not a delay,
Just how I portray.
It's not risque,
Or a break away,
Just my day to day.
I don't give away,
While I drink Cabernet,
And sail, anchors aweigh.
 I don't disobey,
Nor try to get away,
I simply say,
It's not my way.
They'll go away,
And I'll stay,
And say,
It's news from yesterday.
I can slay,
My own way.
Don't dismay,
For my life is gay.
By the way,
I'm my own sunshine ray.

Different Kind of Wild

Everyone has a different way to view their life
Whether that is when they're happy or in strife
How they view relationships and future goals
What they are to people and possible exciting roles

As a young daughter many talk of the wedding day
And how every day the girls should pray
Ask for a man that would provide for the home
But what about the girls whose dreams still roam

Young girls in school whisper about their crushes
And how dreamy looks would give them rushes
How puppy love seemed to last forever
Until better interests arrived, then lines would sever

High school flirting kicked it all up the scale
The hunt was on, each male would find a female
Crushes became goals, goals became hearts torn
Years later missed opportunities could make one feel forlorn

This is what media depicts as the typical high school child
But they do not consider the ones who were a different kind of wild

Special Education

Working in this classroom takes a toll
Only the strongest wish to take this roll
Not everyone understands what we do here
Lucky for us, a challenge is nothing to fear

Each student that walks through our door
Is different - yet the same in their core
Everyone receives love and a method of teaching
They don't teach in college this kind of reaching

We give all of our hearts to every child
From the quiet and meek to the loud and wild
There is no other profession that we'd rather do
Our mentors guided us, for even they knew

Sometimes our days seem like they'll never end
Others feel like we've gained not just coworkers but friends
The students only grow and leave us behind
In spirits, with friends, in body and their mind

As you walk through our halls keep us in mind
For though we are seldom seen, we are a special kind
Our students are smart and grow each day
And they teach us in their own special way

Special education is where we want to stay
Once more, we wouldn't want it any other way

December

I don't know why December is hard
Why we think it's okay to only send a card
What ever happened to staying out late
And having something small like a coffee date

Relatives often wait for younger generations
Be the first to start winter relations
An evening perhaps with laughs over dinner
Homemade cooking certainly doesn't make one thinner!

Phone calls are nice when they're not limited
Just don't call at the movies, that is prohibited
Letters are nice when one lives far away
I'd suggest Skype, you can talk today!

Think of other ways to interact with everyone
There is always a suggestion to do something for
Head to the bowling alley, a winery a fair
As long as it's something, I don't really care

Don't let friends and family be forgotten this holiday
Forget the troubles and just be merry and gay!

Social Media

Social media articles have a way of twisting a simple phrase
And turning it into the most sought after, wanted craze
It would involve make up, clothing lines or hair
It's amazing how many people actually care

On the front cover it lists different ways to slim your middle
Or how to catch a guy, with a simple sexy riddle
Outfits really don't always make girl that's wearing them
Nor is the latest style with the most expensive gem

Some readers want to know what's going on in a rich persons life
Is it as magical as they imagined? Or did it all begin in strife?
What is the magical potion that got their talent started,
Was it luck? Was it hard work? In the end, were they martyred?

Around the holidays there are polls that question a relationship,
Squashed right between recipes for mashed potatoes and bean dip
Asking 'Is this the right time to bring home who you're dating?
Complete this poll and we'll tell you his current rating!'

Lately there have been discussions to see the person that you are
If you're a loner, a social butterfly, or simply a shooting star
It questions your love life, your sexuality, even your gender
These questions should be asked, but don't put people on a bender

Social media should not tell the young and old how to be
Especially when all is on the line, from health to sanity

Words

If your words were limited per day, what would you say?
Would you praise, thank, or even say good day?
What would your interactions with others be,
Would you use useless slang, or sing off key?

Think of how your job would be affected right now
An actor and singer would never take a bow
Doctors couldn't treat any of their patients
And I'm sure parents would run out of patience

Lawyers couldn't successfully defend all of their clients
Then again teenagers would have less to say in defiance
Lovers would have to get creative when professing all
Hipsters would have to shut up (finally) about the fall

Teachers would suffer the most for they teach little ones
Bakers are lucky cause the kitchen scents sell thier buns
Mimes would laugh at other expense for they do it all the time
And free poets would suffer because they couldn't rhyme

Just think if no one actually knew a thing that you meant
Luckily the world is able to access language each moment
