Infatuation & Exasperation

You play the game, and you try to play the game right
You love and lose, you turn around and fight
You turn up in sweats or some nights just look a sight
You curse the darkness then bless the light
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I play the game, and often I play it wrong
I love and lose, but that just provokes another song
I turn up in sweats when other days I want to wear a saroung
I curse the darkness but know that light will soon tagalong
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He plays the game and doesn't do it just the same way
He loves and loses, but he just picks himself to go another day
He turns up in sweats and says that it all is just childs play
He curses the darkness but knows that the light is playing keepaway
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She plays the game, differently every time
She loves and loses, and calls hating a crime
She turns up in sweats and still looks pretty in grime
She curses the darkness but knows that it is only part-time
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They play the game, following each rule
They love and lose but call it learning, like in school
They turn up in sweats and call themselves cool
They curse the darkness but it's because they are all fools
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We play the game, never knowing the outcome
We love and lose, but know where we are from
We turn up in sweats and pretend that we are dumb
We curse the darkness while beating on our drums
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It plays the game because it knows how it is done
It loves and loses because it calls it all fun
It turns up in sweats and hopes that it will be a-shun
It curses the darkness because it will all soon be done.

Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider has leaped from the pages of the Marvel comics books and has landed directly into the movie screen. Yes ladies and gentlemen, another comic book character has entered your homes through the device called the DVD player, not through your sons or daughters backpacks like good children do. No, Ghost Rider has become another movie starring none other than... Nicholas Cage. What hasn't he been in?

So Ghost Rider, I'm not sure how similar it is to the comic book, but Ghost Rider, pictured above, started off as a motorcycle stunt kid who used to ride with his father. Then he made a deal with the devil, and like most deals, it went bad. Years later Blaze meets up with the Devil again and the Devil turns Blaze into the Ghost Rider. Basically, he rides as a human during the day, and at night he hunts bad guys. Oh and here's the best part. he becomes skeleton like, his head starts to burn with fire and his motorcycle tricks out to however he wants it to.

Not too bad right? Well, it really wouldn't have been in Blaze didn't have a girl friend. And like any good story character, his girlfriend gets in the way, becomes bait, needs to be rescued, all that good stuff that makes movies like this interesting. Oh and Girlfriend not only becomes bait, she becomes a bargaining chip. Particularly like the flaming body parts, saved me from actually seeing Cage the whole time (haven't you had enough of him already Hollywood? Shesh!) and turned out to be an okay movie. Oh, and there's a sequel coming out too. Enjoy!

Describe ME

I'm wonderful, I'm fantastic, I'm out of this world;
I'm beautiful, sexy and smart;
I'm a living piece of art;
But why can't I just be me?
I don't think I'm wonderful, I've got odd thoughts in my head;
I like to yell and play loud music until it breaks down the walls;
I can get angry and shout, turn purple sometimes too;
But why can't I let you see this side of me?
I'm straight as an arrow, just amazing, so thin;
I've been places you never have been;
I'm so gracious and kind;
But why can't you describe me?
I can be snarky and proud, ashamed of my own skin;
Quiet and appear thoughtful, while the devils lie within;
I can make my heart race with the single thought of him;
But why can't you see this part of me?

I'll go places, I'll go so far, I'll make it the distance;
I'm quirky and sweet, wild and sometimes mild;
I'll succeed and never frown, always be on top;
But why you be true to me?
I'm afraid and scared, I want to crawl out of my body;
I want to dissapear and never be seen again;
 I can look around and know where I have been, but;
But why wont my voice be heard, so you can hear me?

For the Ladies

When a boy looks at you with eyes full of questions;
He is wondering how long you will be around.

When a boy answers,''I'm fine'' after a few seconds;
He is not at all fine.

When a boy stares at you;
He is wondering why you are lying.

When a boy lets you lay on his chest;
He is wishing for you to be his forever.

When a boy wants to see you everyday;
He wants to be yours forever.

When a boy says,''I love you'';
He means it.

When a boy says,''I miss you'';
No one in this world can miss you more than that.

Life only comes around once,
So make sure you spend it with the right person.

Find a guy who calls you,''beautiful'';
Instead of,''hot''.

Who calls you back when you hang up on him;

Who will stay awake just to watch you sleep;

Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead;

 Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats;

Who holds your hand in front of his friends;

Who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and

How lucky he is to have you;

 Who turns to his friends and says,'' That's her!'';

 If you read this you have to re post it,
guy or girl, please!

Or, as a favor to me and the other young women out there who know young ladies;
Please pass this on to the girls so they know where their Prince Charming's are almost here.

Pale Moon Night

It was a pale moon the night before
Where the kisses flew before the sunset
Cool breeze drifted through the air
Chilling all but the mind and the soul
The next day there was snow
 Dreams let the day go by faster
The air was cool and crisp and expected
 Fueling a kindling romance
As the day progressed the heat diminished
And warm touches burns into the skin
The smell of a warm drink unfreezes the soul
Reminding one of a warmer day

Dawn approached and so do the dreams
Was embraced down the stairs by a warm meal
Outside the wind pushed passerbys into thier cars
Pushing one towards a better day

The sun crossed over the sky as lips do when kissed
Beings are seized loved and enveloped
Behind closed doors bodies are protected by the storm
Hidden away from the dark skies of a harrowing day

The news should have warned a person of the dangerous day
Of when lines are crossed and bodies pressed
Breath replaces the wind and the rain
Bless the ones who stop yearning for better days

Smiling Donuts

"Smiles are free, there's no taxes on them!" - Stranger at Dunkin' Donuts.  Summer 2011

I know it has taken a little while for this to be posted, but after a day like yesterday I thought it was appropriate. I know that I post a few inspirational sayings, pictures and the like, but for once, I saw an inspirational quote 'in the flesh.'
During the summer I was a nanny and one particular day I dropped my kids off early and found myself with a few hours to kill. Not wanting to spoil a trip near the coffee shop I stopped in and set myself up for a few hours of uninterrupted homework. It happened to be a long day with the kids being out of control and goofy (and when it happens at the same time you just have to sit back and laugh) and a cup of Joe sounded just about right.
I got into line for a medium cup, coupon in hand and when suddenly a customer stopped just about in front of me and said "Smiles are free, there's no taxes on them!" I must have had a frown face on, because I just started laughing, and soon the whole store was in on the joke. He was right, smiles are free, and should be shared at every opportunity.
I'm sharing this story with you in hopes that you remember to smile, at least once today and know that there are people out there willing to lift up the corners of your mouth for you. I place myself on that list, I don't think anyone should suffer through a day without having something to smile about.

When was the last time a stranger made you smile?

Ham for Dinner

So, tonight was the cook's night off, and I got stuck cooking... again. All the instructions that were told me were... LOOK IT UP! So I grabbed an old cookbook, used what I had in the cupboards and got to work!

And luck would have it, I had 6 servings hunk of ham, a can of string green beans and an unlimited supply of rice. Yum! And this serves FOUR PEOPLE.

Directions: 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
                     Place Ham on an ungreased pan and when the oven is ready place it in there for 25 minutes
                 2. Bring water to boil in two different pots when there is 15 minutes left on the clock for the ham
                     Boil the rice (1 cup = four people), stir occasionally until rice is soft and boil the green beans
                 3. Check the ham after 25 minutes, and if the ham is brown and the edges are curled, you're done
                      *IF the ham is not done
                            Put a cover on the rice and green beans.
                            Put 10 more minutes on the clock.
                                  Keep doing so until ham is brown and edges are curled.
                     Drain the rice and the green beans, if there is an extra white foam on top of the rice, drain too.
                 4. Set the table and enjoy your dinner with your family!

Glint

Violence greets death with a tight embrace;
Entering a world of hate and cold fury;
Yearning to release the bonds to wreck havoc;
Clenching tight fists at spiteful memories;
Smiling at tales of revenge and plotted murder;
Relinquishing the faces when justice is ill-served;
Divulging in the screams of the dying, wickedly laughing;
Groaning against the eternal enforced pain;
Not knowing the end or the totality of the plight;
Therein lies a cruel hell, locked away in the glint of my shiv.

Sloppy Joes!

If anyone should know, I LOVE SLOPPY JOES! Hence tonight became MY FAVORITE NIGHT of the week! And the best part is, I made everything by myself! Yessiree, I certainly did! Tonight I checked the refrigerator and tried to utilize everything that I found in there. And what I found is listed below...

1 Can of Manwich Sloppy Joe mix (I know it's cheating but I'm a college student! Lighten up!)
1lb of Ground Beef
6-8 Hamburger Rolls
Ketchup (Blaugh!)
Musterd

1. Cook the ground meat in a pan on the stove over low heat. Smash the meat into tiny sizes and stir until the meat is completly brown (DARK pink is okay, you're going to keep cooking it in a minute)
2. Drain the meat in a colunder or as best you can then put it back in the pan.
3. Add the Manwich Sloppy Joe mix and let simmer for five minutes.
4. Serve and enjoy!

Doctor, I am Afraid to Die

~DEATH~
WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO EXPLAIN IT .

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,
'Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.'
Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.'

'You don't know?  You're a Christian man, and don't know what's on the other side?'
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining,
And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the patient, the doctor said,
'Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, And when the door opened,  he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, But I do know one thing...
I know my Master is there and that is enough.'

May today there be peace within you.
May you trust God that you are exactly
Where you are meant to be.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet  when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

"Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget."

Visa/MasterCard FRAUD

Just a heads up for everyone regarding the latest in Visa fraud. Royal Bank received this communication about the newest scam. This is happening in the Midwest right now and moving.
This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the one piece they want..

Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it.

This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself. One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA', and I was called on Thursday from 'MasterCard'.

The scam works like this:

Person calling says - 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460, Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a marketing company based in Arizona ?' When you say 'No', the caller continues with, 'Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?' You say 'yes'.

The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud Investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do you need me to read it again?'

Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works - The caller then says, 'I need to verify you are in possession of your card'. He'll ask you to 'turn your card over and look for some numbers'. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the last 3 are the Security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the last 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, 'That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card Do you have any other questions?'

After you say no, the caller then thanks you and states, 'Don't hesitate to call back if you do', and hangs up. You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back. Within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we were glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card. We made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number..
What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to Them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master Card directly for verification of their conversation..

The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit; however, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report.

What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a 'Jason Richardson of MasterCard' with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA Scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening. I dealt with a similar situation this morning, with the caller telling me that $3,097 had been charged to my account for plane tickets to Spain , and so on through the above routine..

It appears that this Is a very active scam, and evidently quite successful.

Pass this on to all your family and friends!!

Best of Both Worlds

If anyone out there has been near small children when the show "Hannah Montana" was on the show, then you may have heard of her song "Best of Both Worlds" where she explains how she is a regular girl during the day then at night she's a pop star singing to sold out concerts and the like. Of course, we all know as an audience that she really doesn't act this way, she is just a character on a show who only sings well because her father was a singer at one time too. Have been - Has been characters!

In her song though, she discusses the positives of having the "best of both worlds" where she can meet hundreds of famous people, dress in different fabulous ways and still be able to sing to a wide audience.
On the other hand, since her name "Hannah Montana" is fake, she can use this as a disguise and have a normal life without the concerts, the flashing lights and be a normal person without fans running up to her screaming and asking for her autograph. Eventually she takes of the guise because she wants to live just one life, but it was neat to see how she could take two different and live both lives separately.

In the old show "Alf", the alien once mentions how it was fabulous to live in a humans house because he gets all the benefits of living there and still be an alien. He is able to have many opportunities that he hadn't before (such as more food) and be able to tinker around in the family garage like he used to do on his old planet.

As a college student I've seen a variety in the 'best of both worlds.' To list a few, I've seen mothers go to college and leave their child at home with a family member and are able to enjoy a few hours as a college student. But when they return home they greet their child and are ready for a few fun filled hours before the child goes to bed.

There are other times when a social outcast is given the chance to be somebody and jumps on the chance, however when he or she returns home, they're back to being an online celebrity and doesn't come back out of the shell until another wild party arrives. Or someone is a social butterfly and enjoys the life she can lead by spending time with her friends, then does activities with her family completely different than what she does with her friends and have just as much fun.

We all have this 'best of both worlds' inside of each and everyone one of us. I think it should be called our little superheros. When we go to school or to work we are one person, but when we return home we look different. Maybe we like to go and eat lunch with friends and have a fabulous time, but when the day is done, the best part of the night is reading a book to your child just so they will go to sleep.

Or perhaps you're like me and are a college student. I attend school most of the year, being with friends and studying (of course) but when I do go home, I sometimes enjoy the solitude of being in my own room and just sitting in my comfy spot doing a crossword puzzle or a small project. And when I'm home I also get home made meals which really makes it all worthwhile.

I suggest that you find your little best of both worlds superhero and give them a try. You never know what you may find about yourself!

Such a SNOOP-y fan!

This little number is perfect for those weird weather, let's go shopping at the mall outfits. Of course, when you're trying on clothes it can be a little inconvenient. I mean come on, there are layers going on right here alone!
Today what I did was pair my black sweater top with a printed tee (it happened to be Snoopy that was on top in the drawer!) and it was still a bit cold to wear. Next I put on my new tan scarf with the fringe and wouldn't you know it, but it matches the small amounts of brown in the tee! For my lower half I wore skinny jeans and heels (didn't really matter which pair, they both matched!) And  I went off to the mall with the girls.
I'd tell you where I got the scarf, but honestly, I think I got it at Old Navy! Such a gorgeous thing, it's a big round O that wraps around my neck twice! Very lovely. Hope you are enjoying the lovely weather (and shopping season too!)

I Question Why

I have been hurt when trying to be wise;
I've tried shutting the door, losing the key;
Tried to shift through or avoid the lies;
Time shows the only one I hurt is me.

I'll laugh, I'll smile, I'll give them what they want;
Almost, I keep what only I can see;
The boys believe I only like to taunt;
But please know, this is how I used to be.

I'm a freak, I'm a coward, I'm a fool;
I'm chased, I'm caught, I'll again run away;
But now I'm grounded, and I blame you;
I could stay here until I'm old and grey.

It's strange, I'll say it, you're still a stranger;
I don't know myself, as well, anymore;
I think that's good, no more feelings of danger;
A wish has become less of a folk lore.

I'm safe and sound, more beautiful too;
And these small things are a result of you.

The Amityville Horror

For those who are bit squeamish when it comes to ghost stories, I'm on your side. They kinda freak me out too. But that's why we read them though, right? Just to get that little bit of fright out of the way for the day! Right? Okay, sorta. But this time I wanted to hear the full story of The Amityville Horror and see if the new movie is up to par. So far, it isn't. You really can't focus on the different emotions that the characters are going through in the movies, unless if you know what you're looking for specifically.

To begin, this young couple (the Lutz's) decide to move into their dream home together. Four days into the new house they begin to notice a few peculiar things, such as strange smells, odd emotions, weird things that make you wake up in the middle of the night, things like that. What they don't know is what's causing it. The house has been blessed (as it is in the movie) but what the movie doesn't show is what happens to the poor priest after he leaves the house and what he REALLY saw. Darn guy had no idea what was happening in the house, didn't even know who lived there before the new family (the Lutz family by the way) had moved in and had to be told by other priests who lived in the area. Shesh. This sort of throws the movie off of the track. Maybe they wanted to 'spice it up' a bit. Bleaugh. Stupid idea.

If (and WHEN) you read the rest of the book, and compare it to the most recent movie of The Amityville Horror you will understand how much time Hollywood has put into reading the actual books or scripts of the movies that they are doing these days. The most annoying bit while I was reading the documentary was that there were TWO characters that the youngest daughter was talking to, a little boy and a fairly large PIG. Yes, a PIG and the PIGS name was Jodie. Not the little girl that appeared in the newer movie. It was a little BOY that haunted the house and a male PIG that frequently talked to the alive child. Frustrating to read that and reflect back on the movie. And in one part of the book the little girl follows the pig out of her window with no explanation as to where she went. In the movie to again 'spice it up a bit' she walks out on the roof and needs to be rescued by her step father and her mother. And get this, the step father never goes crazy, he just becomes extremely frantic and ... can't say much more, other than Hollywood screwed it up again!

Sure, the family stayed in the home for 28 days, at least that bit is correct. The names and the scenarios are fairly accurate, including the dog Harry, a few of the situations are pretty much on the dot, but like the author says, ghosts cannot be asked to appear on command and appear or act, they do as they please because they are stuck between worlds, or so we think. We may never understand their predicament. We cannot show a movie to the world of how ghosts preform because there is no proof of them acting this way. If you look very carefully most of the time in the movies you can see the cables, bright lights or the CGI or what ever it is called to make the ghosts and what not appear "out of thin air!"

I enjoyed the book, because the book is more accurate than the movie, but I am excited to watch the original movie, just to see the originality in the movie scene, and compare it to the original book.
