Peek a Boo

Have you ever played a game of peek a boo with a child?
One moment you are there in their loving trusting eyes
The next you are gone, hidden behind caring, loving hands
Reappearing once again to play the short, charming game

Did you ever lose that inner child, the one that you called wild?
Reasons were because you listened to the arguments and lies
You hid behind books and headphones playing unheard of bands
Fearing that your interests and activities may bring you shame

When was the moment that you and your wildness reconciled?
The exact moment when to the chains you finally said your goodbyes
Run barefoot like you used to, squishing your toes within the sands
Your true friends will come out of the woodwork, and be glad you came

The game of peek a boo may appear to be a game that is mild
But this game relates to how to yourself you used to give sighs
Be honest to yourself, tell it to everyone across the lands
You can let your inner child hide for a moment, but do not forget her name

Tuna Cake!

I know I haven't posted a recipe in a while but holy cow was this amazing and delicious!

Need:
1 can of tuna
1/2 cup of bread crumbs (divided)
1 egg
canola oil

Mix 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, egg and tuna in a large bowl.
Form into patties, then coat in more bread crumbs.
Place in oil on the stove for 3 minutes both sides (or until brown).
Place on paper towels to drain before serving.
Enjoy!

Side note: I have frozen these and came out just as good!

Piano

Ballerinas danced across the worn stage
Legs extending between white floorboards
Knees bending at the blackened seats
Melody of practiced charm and grace

Charging smooth soldiers display their rage
Striking in unison to the tune of their lords
As machinery clashes leaving echoes in defeats
Slowly completing the march in cadence and grace

The memory reading a children's book reveals one age
As does the melody of a favorite song and their chords
Reminds one of happier times when friends once greets
Filled with days of muddy clothes and a blushing face

Music brings all together with every tune and written page
From holidays with tunes with lights and hollowed gourds
Singing and playing in the winter colds and summer heats
Listen to the melodies and savor the moments in every pace

Dear Love

Why is a question that I've had so often
And one I've never heard an answer to
You sit up there
With your bow and arrow
And to me
You seem to shoot blindly
At least when it comes to this annoyed human

Is it a joke up there in your high heaven?
To mess with the lives of foolish mortals?
You look down at the fools
Wandering around lost
Wondering when it will strike
Asking for your little arrow
To finally strike true to the annoyed humans heart

Why is it that you are so quick to draw sometimes
Or so so slow to draw on others and make them wait?
Is it because you believe in love
Or you believe that one should wait?
Were you scorned and that is how you got the job?
Or were you offered because you lost
A bet and have to be a slave to annoying humans

Let your arrow fly!
Let it fly true!
Let it fly so it strikes another in the heart!
Let the heart match!
Let them be happy!
Please, strike soon at my friends heart and make them happy
This annoyed human is tired of hearing their moping!

Laugh Even More

I really hate bringing up old memories
but this is better than throwing away keys
I want to bury all the things I remember
From any time with them from January through December

This is essentially a break up letter to the boys
Who discarded me like one of their toys
Every date and mistake that once occurred
Led me down a path that eventually unfurled

There is no other place I'd rather be
And every moment helped me believe and see
That happiness was only one man away
Nowt that he's here and I want him to stay

Love nudged me at the time to wait
All this while I thought it was only late
But now I'm glad that  love was right all along
Because before clearly I was in the wrong

Live a little, love a lot, laugh even more
Time gives us what we need and more

Listen for Spring

Once frozen waters flow freely down the clear paths
Crashing upon ancient rocks and growing flora
Emptying into newer ponds slowly defrosting
Breath of wind curls across the melting ice
Joyful fauna frolic beneath the frozen waves
Eager to be free of the ice that traps all below

Upon the shore snow melts to reveal hibernating creatures
Tails uncurl from twiddling whiskers testing the warmth
Eager ears twitch to listen for the call to finally arise
Small and large, above and below the world awakens
Wings stretch and take flight using perfect practiced voices
Bodies stretch and frolic, dancing with the others songs

Underfoot, the burrowing world welcomes the softer ground
Crawling towards warmth and light to create new homes
Flexing unused wings and legs in the fresh welcoming air
Spreading joy into the budding floral world to encourage growth
Roots twist and curl in the bountiful earth to bless life
Blossoming into the wonderful creation using a detailed plan

I'm Forgetting

Sorry, but I'm forgetting.
Gone are the memories,
Slipping away with age,
Ever so quickly,
Yet I'm not afraid.
Descriptions come slow,
When they wish to appear,
Readily, perhaps tomorrow
Why particular ones
Some day I'll learn,
Now the answer will not appear.
Reality has struck, time waits not,
Time erases sorrow and tears,
Slowly, but quickly we grow.
Wearily we accept that time ticks,
Slowly at first but the pace quickens,
Step by step we accept the dance of time,
Entering a new phase of growth.
Here we recall that we may have forgotten,
Now and again a memory will surface,
Ends are never quite a true end,
Death is but a way to treasure soon forgotten memories.
