A Good Person

A GOOD Friend
Would offer you a tissue and some chocolates
When your day is going badly.
A BEST Friend
Would sit on you sharing a tub of ice cream
And ask who you wished that you could have bunted across the room.

A GOOD Date
    Would offer to pay
And be a gentelman all night
A BEST Date
Would ask what you like to do
And mix what he likes to do and what you like to do into a fun night

A GOOD Girlfriend
Would plan a girl's night out
    With booze and distractions
A BEST Girlfriend
Would plan a girl's night in
With fattening foods and corny movies

GOOD Makeup
     Lasts through the day
And only needs to be touched up once
GREAT Makeup
     Doesn't streak when crying
And know exactly when to look sexy

Father and Daughter

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very Liberal

Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in Favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other Words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the Lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that She was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people She knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends, because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?' She replied, ' Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are Easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She Is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA, and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.' The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, 'That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the conservative philosophy'.

If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between Conservative and Liberal I'm all ears.  And, if you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh. A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".

Well, I forwarded it to you.

Piece of the Puzzle

Now see, I'm no idiot, and I realized that these cases matched up in a weird way. For instance, why was the gun in Angels and Ricks car? That was something that really bugged me. This murder was solvable. Everyone else was just saying that it wasn't.
I returned to the scene and scoured entire place looking for a clue as to where the gun went. I used the UV light and black lighted the area, looking for a hit as to how the gun managed to leave the room. After about fifteen minutes I found a trail of flecks of dried blood, leading from the point of origin (or where the gentleman was shot) to the third story window of his apartment.  Why the hell would it lead out the window when the window was locked... upon closer inspection I found that the window was not locked. Just shut.
I climbed out of the window on to the fire escape and looked around. someone could have easily hoisted themselves up to the first story ladder, then climbed up to his window, walked in and taken the gun, walked back out, shut the window and climbed back down. "To what end?" I said out loud.
I climbed back into the room and checked the trail again. Sure enough, it went from the chair, to the floor, to the window sill and .... gone. Somehow managed to end up at a scene six miles away. Guns can't walk so how did it do that?
I excited the apartment through the escape hatch, I'm the police so I can get away with things like that, and on on my way down I found a heap of string. Bloody hell, it had blood on it. That would explain the missing bootprints in the apartment. The murderer had the gun attached to a string, and after the blood had dried somewhat, and before I arrived to do my analysis, had nabbed the gun and disappeared. Well, no, not disappear entirely. The gun ended up at that scene six miles away, a few days ago. Nothing seemed to add up here.
A few days later, as we were cleaning up the crime scene, a call came in and I picked up because I happened to be near the car. The dispatcher sent me through, it was a personal call to my personal line at the station. The citizen was wondering if anyone had turned in his gun, someone had broken into his home about a week ago and stole a number of guns. He read me the serial numbers, and with one of them, my heart jumped a beat. The serial number that matched the small handgun that his father had given him as a birthday present when he turned 21, that was light and easily hid in a pocket book, that a woman could get away with having in her bag, was the same one that we had in police custody downtown.
I stopped the kid right there, "Listen Dave, we need you down to the station right about now, do you think you could make it? We have one of your guns."
"Really? That's great! When do you want me to come down?"
"Right now kid, right now."

The Concert

She came in tonight a little nonchalantly
In the middle of a dedicated song
For a girl with a Jamaicain accent
Who promised to buy our songs online

She chilled in the back row
Boots up
Sweatshirt used as a napkin
She didn’t have a care in the world

I’d see my partner sneak her looks
But she wasn’t looking at his hands
Or at his pants
Rather at his fingers as they strummed his guitar

She look at the main singer
Watch his head shake to the song
Undress the girls in front of him with his eyes
Then watch his fingers play along

Then she’d fix her gaze on me
While she munched on her dinner
I knew she liked my music
She would tap her foot to my beat

When we stopped singing for a moment
She stopped paying attention
The other girls screamed for a look
She just forked her dessert

I couldn’t figure her out
This girl in the sweats
Maybe she was just comfortable
Or maybe she was in a relationship

I wanted to ask her name after the show
But I was thronged with twenty girls
Begging for a picture
Grabbing for a signature

And she quietly waited
And I struggled to survive
And the girls screamed
And suddenly I heard her voice

“Oy!” She yelled - she must be British!
“Anyone else need a picture!?” I’m mistaken
She was trying to be helpful but no one would listen
But me, the forgotton drummer of the band

She didn’t buy our collaborated CD
This girl with the laid back demeaner
Humming to our three chords in harmony songs
Leaving tonight with a smile that I’ll forever be chasing

S.O. [17]

"In true love the smallest distance is too great, and the greatest distance can be bridged."

Have you ever been in love? Have you ever felt the need to be involved with a person that you cannot bear a moment without knowing how they are doing? Have you ever?

We are young, we may not know the difference between being in love and being obsessed. Obsessed is when someone is over the moon about something, maybe an actor, singer or general topic. Being in love, to me is when two people are together and have a connection between the two hearts, or two souls, or even in a topic. There is a hundred ways that people can meet, and a hundred ways that people can fall in love.

Can we expect to have any reaction when we fall in love? Do we have expectations when we are in love? Are we in love right now? I cannot say. I may be in love, for I miss him very much, but whose to say that we are in love? Or for that matter, inseperable?

The shortest distance can refer to the body, for as he moved away all those years past, I felt a coldness and a feeling of not knowing when I'd see him again. Would it be years? Months or days? Hours or just moments? I never wanted him to let go, and why would I? He made me feel safe and secure. Love knows no bounds.

Years went by, as you may have guessed, and what is the best way to bridge a distance? I want to see him again and feel the same way that I had felt the last time I had seen him, but how is this possible without bridging that age old gap between us? We were seperated, by time, money, miles, friends, so how could this distance be breached? Simple, by communication. Whether it was via love, or memories or just a rekindling of a friendship, I'm happy that we're back in contact, and I'm hoping that a rekindling of our relationship is beginning, but one can only hope.

As always darling, you remain in my prayers. ♥

One Act Main Character

Chatting in the corner
With one eye
On the one act main character
Looking for a distraction
A casual on purpose bump
Green dress Brown Sweater
Not much of an eye catcher
Lack of Makeup
Nothing very special
Turned away looking elsewhere
Pausing ready for a moment
Cannot allow the non descript to have a moment
Find another to discuss mechanics
She moves away
Then a moment of recognition
A soft touch
Sparkle in bare eyes
Shimmer of golden brown hair
Quick paced gait away
Never faltered as the heels
Of a grown woman passed by
There it was the moments gone
The memories tailed behind
As the doors closed
Two years ago that smile
Left the same way - too quickly
There are others, older, more mature
Confident, tall and unfair
Green dress Brown Sweater
Has left again with only a hello
A congratulations
And a hole
In a one act main characters confused heart.

Meatball Grinders

Isn't your mouth drooling already? Oh, a meatball grinder, sounds good to me anytime of the day, any day of the week, and week out of the year. It gets my mouth watering and it's no wonder that  I can't resist ordering them every time I go into Subway! Tonight though, we had it for dinner, and jeez, did I want to ask for another one! He he!

What you need:

meatballs
tomato sauce
long grinder rolls
cheese (provolone, mozzarella)

1. Cook the tomato sauce in a pan until it boils on the stovetop. You can cook the meatballs in the same pan, or read the instructions on the bag. (Every meatball cooks differently, just ask your Grandma!)
2. In the oven on 350 degrees (or as low as you like) on a cookie dish toast the bread with the provolone cheese on top. Remove when the bread either begins to brown or the cheese melts to your satisfaction.
3. Remove the pan and add 3-5 meatballs per cheesy roll. As an added touch add mozzerella cheese to the top of the meatballs immediatly to get that delicious melty cheese.
4. Enjoy!

*Can be served with salad, you need your veggies!

Om nom nom Om nom nom Om nom nom!
Om nom nom Om nom nom Om nom nom!

Crocheting

Hi! I know, I typically don't do this, but I thought I would show off everything that I have been working on for the past few months. A few of these you may recognize, others... maybe not as much. But I am going to say that if you are interested in a piece, or style I am asking for $5 for time and effort and $5 if I need to buy the material. If you have the material or know where to get it, please by all means provide me your material! It saves me the trip and money and you get exactly what you want. Eitherwise, if I have to go fetch it, it's $10 total. Anyways, enjoy!

This is a hat and scarf set made of Red Heart Blue and Barn Red. Simple red pattern scarf and hat with dark blue trim. I was actually trying to get rid of the red and I had just enough to get both the hat and scarf out of it. Not bad right?

This set I made for a friend of mine. This hat has flaps which you could attatch tails to, but I did not on this one. The scarf is blue with red trim to match the hat. I was going to kep it blue but I did not like the uneven edges so I hid them. Smart right? He really really liked the set!

This set actually was split up, the hat went to a friend and the scarf went to my aunt. This was one skien; the hat again has flaps (we had quite a few cold snaps up here!) and the scarf actually had a unique pattern. The pattern was five single rows, two rows of double and back to five single rows. Made for quite an intersting pattern!

This was a set of baby hats that I made for a few friends who just had little ones. One is a girl, the other is a boy and one girl is having twins! Wow!

The colors are fairly Barny-ish but I like the sequence. The pattern wasn't that hard, I did all four in about three days, and I found that changing the colors really wasn't that hard per hat.

This was an endless scarf for a girlfriend who wanted to get rid of some yarn. Convienent! I turned it into an endless scarf, but the problem was I forgot to even it out before I sewed up the ends and it turned into a muddled twisted thing. But that's okay because after all... it is an endless scarf!

This was my first attempt at a beret and hat with flaps set. Both turned out pretty good and both went pretty fast. Pretty much as soon as I had finished them, my friends declared that they were theirs. At least I don't have to see my mistakes too often!

This beret I did a little while ago. What was different about this one verses the red one was that this one had a different brim. I changed the part that stuck to your hair and made it for a smaller head. Which was good because the girl who wanted it has a short hair cut!

So that is what I have been working on lately. If you like anything, please comment below!
Or better yet, if YOU crochet, let me know and I will send you my patterns! Have a great day!

The Bee Movie

Does anyone remember Jerry Seinfeld? Remember he used to be Seinfeld, the main character? No?  Does Nobody watch late night TV anymore? I guess not!

Anyways, Jerry Seinfeld is the main character in this hilarious movie starring as Barry, the Bee. Barry has just graduated from college (three days of grade school, three days of high school, and three days of college mind you) and is ready to set off to find his role in society. As it turns out, his position has already been decided upon. He sets of on a quest to find his place in the world and becomes lost in New York City where he meets Vanessa.  When meeting Vanessa he learns more about the bees role in the world of humans and realizes that bees are not being appreciated for what they do!

There are more remember able members of the Hollywood socialite groups here, including, Renee Zellweger, Sting, Oprah Winfrey, Rip Torn and Larry King! Very educational movie, looking forward to using this movie in the classroom as well!

Five Senses (1)

I See
Darkness dispelling as the fingers of the sun rays flicker above the horizon
I Hear
The frightening crashes and whistling through the rocks become quiet crescendos
I Smell
Dry salt and the wisps of pine flow towards my senses
I Feel
Stray beads of salt infested water fall upon my out stretched hands
I Taste
   Tentatively, the unbidden drink
And recall a time when the world again became as new as the dawn.

Up!

I'm sure you will enjoy this. I never knew one word in the English language that can be a noun, verb, adj, adv, prep.

UP

Read until the end ... you'll laugh.

This two-letter word in English has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is
'UP.' It is listed in the dictionary as an [adv], [prep], [adj], [n] or [v].
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?

At a meeting, why does a topic come
UP? Why do we speak UP, and why are the officers UP for election and why is it Up to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends, brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and fix UP the old car.
At other times, this little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.

To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed
UP is special.
And this
UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.

We open
UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!

To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of
UP, look UP the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4 of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions.
If you are
UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more.
When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding
UP. When the sun comes out, we say it is clearing UP. When it rains, it soaks UP the earth. When it does not rain for awhile, things dry UP. One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now . . . my time is UP!

Oh . . . one more thing: What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?

U

P
!

Did that one crack you
UP?

Don't screw
UP. Show this on to everyone you look UP in your address book . . . or not . . . it's UP to you.

Now I'll shut
UP!

Ascend with Zinc

Answers, answers are no more
Blatant and blind are the descriptions
Cross fire speaks volumes
Death frightens away the survivors

Enter a void where none survive
Fashion yourself a way of escape
Grab a hold of what support you can
Hold on for dear life, or what you have left

Ice cold winds prevent you from continuing
Jagged dreams press against your mind
Kill the more painful thoughts and remember
Love protects the deaf and leads the blind

Moans and wails may deter you from your path
Noise can be drowned out by your tears
Open your mind to the best path of escape
Plan for a future, and avoid the past

Quell the hate full thoughts, they will only drag you down
Remember who is there as a helping hand
Silence sometimes is your best weapon
Take the time and you will survive

Under your breath you may swear or scream
Vanity however will not come to your aid
Wipe the tears from your eyes, look above you there is the
Xyst, your escape, the heaven that you are reaching for

You will find your way, but this is as far as I can help you
Zinc is there above your head, now you know that you're halfway home

the Help

By: Kathryn Stockett

This book came as a recommendation through a variety of my friends, one of which is one my favorite neighbors. (Please tell her that I said that because I have to live with her for the rest of the year!)

The Help is a marvelous tell-all book about a group of courageous women who decide to beat the odds by writing a book on the life of being part of the help in white households.  They tell all about the families they are employed under, the good the bad and the well, shitty. Excuse my terms! But it was in the book!

Skeeter has this marvelous idea, why not tell the world how it really is to live in the deep south with someone to raise you from birth until you're ready to leave the proverbial nest?  Aibileen, a new friend who is working under one of the more terrible families in the area, become adamant at the idea, then realizes how it could help everyone.  She pulls her friend Minny into the book idea, but we don't find out if she's up for it or against the idea, and it remains that way for a little while. Poor Minny, we hear her thoughts but it takes all that she is to keep her yap shut sometimes.  Aibileen is by herself but she loves raising children, since her pride and joy is no longer in the house that she takes care of herself.

I admire the three women who are fictional, yet explain their reasoning's of their actions through the different stories that they tell.  Skeeter takes pride in the book that she is compiling, and beginning to understand the work environments that people like her mother and best friend have helped continue. Aibileen watches her friends and coworkers go through life raising other mothers babies, teach a hidden message to her last baby, and takes pride in herself for deciding to make a difference in the other women's lives by being a part of this book. Minny on the other hand, wishes that there was another way that she could earn her way to being away from those that hurt her, and still be able to raise her continuously growing family.  How do these women make a difference in their communities? Are they able to change history with their stories?

Stay tuned for a follow up post on the the movie, the Help starring my favorite, Emma Stone, as Skeeter. I'm getting the movie in this week, so hopefully it'll be a quick follow up!

Pink Panther

Wowza! No, not really, I know that, but I really did like wearing this outfit for a time. It was a little chillier today so I wore a different sweater over the ensemble. Wouldn't you believe it but I did wear the long no button sweater that is one of my favorite pieces.
This complete outfit was the short white sweater (that was intentionally bought for prom, but look how that turned out ha ha), a hot pink long sweater (when it's really warm looks really good with just black leggings too) and dark jeans that hug my legs. For the shoes, I couldn't decide (like my socks in the meantime?) but I would go with white or silver shoes, or the uggs. Depends on the day though. If it's cold, go with the uggs, if it's warm go with the short shoes.

Just a bum around outfit, or if you want to be seen in the supermarket, the hot pink shirt will take care of those looks, let me tell you!
Total: around $40
Sweater: $5
Uggs:     $12 or shoes: $5
Jeans:     $20
Shirt:      $5
Brilliant right?

Three Little Birds - Bob Marley

"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', "This is my message to you-ou-ou:"

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. Don't worry!"
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing" - I won't worry!
"'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right" - I won't worry!
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, oh no!
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

The A-List

By: Zoey Dean

As it sounds, this book is about a high elite class of people who steal boyfriends, party it up every chance they get, with the rampant sex, unaware parents social life... yes, the list continues.  It was compared to Gossip Girl and any other show like it that is on the telly.
Anna, a New York social-lite has decided to move out of her mothers home and into her fathers dwelling in Los Angeles where the life of the party apparently lives.
Here she falls in love with a kid named Ben who turns her life upside down and pulls her into the social life of Los Angeles where she meets just about everyone that he had slept with, or dated with for a while, or is in love with presently.  Anna realizes how much the girls really don't like her, maybe it's when they rip her dress, or maybe it's when they start spreading lies about her or maybe...
I do have to root for Anna at one point though, she says NO to Ben! Go Anna!
Besides that, it seems the same as my impression of the Gossip Girl series, always going on and always about girl bullies that don't exist in this sense in normal school systems.  In normal school systems the majority of the students are not uber rich, do not party up a storm every night of the week on thier parents money and do now wear a different party dress to any and every occasion with a variety of dress makers and jewelry designers on hand.
So, to recap, I rooted for Anna to for saying no to Ben, but that's all I got to say to the subject of anything to do with what is not my cup of tea... usually. I like reading about it, but doing it? I've got a whole 'nother ballpark for a longer discussion.

Stabilized

There was a spark I realized
As we were saying goodbye tonight
It was something yearned after, fantasized
An enigma thought to be out of sight
Looking back perhaps it has been dramatized
And the moment was too far fetched, it just might
It is a phenomenon that I'm not which familiarized
But for tonight the world seemed alright
Lip locked and with a shock I felt a fight
Between reactions and connections that are energized
A quick snap and a thrill, with a fast white light
Which left me for a moment feeling hypnotized
This is what I've been after, this small little delight
A natural feeling that leaves women immobilized
I've found you at last, you've rescued me from my plight
With the spark of life, our relationship has been stabilized
