Reading

Life is like an open book
Where everyday is a new page
When the days are slow
The pages turn slower
When the pages go fast
The days go by faster

We're only a chapter in each others lives
But I hope we will be more
Though my books just started
And yours has too

I hope that we'll be read
Together
Until the very end
We'll last until the very last chapter
The last sentence
The last word
And leave the reader with a feeling of sadness
Because there is no more to read

But we'll live beyond our own story
Like all good characters do
In the next book in our series

Waiting

I'm screaming.
Can't you hear me?
I'm yelling.
Shouting.
Practically going blue in the face.

You're clueless.
Can't you hear me?
You're waiting.
Silently.
Not a change in temper.

Until.

You're screaming.
You think I can't hear you?
You're yelling.
Shouting.
Turning blue in your face.

You think I'm clueless.
You think I can't hear.
I'm just waiting.
Patiently.
No change in my poker face.

Eventually 2

I've prayed for years for the man of my dreams to step in and save me from the loneliness
I've asked for him to be strong, gentle, able to dance and have a sense of humor
I've asked for a man that is protecting, loving, decent, and mild
And I now have such a man

I have a man who is loving from a distance
Who steps away when He believes I need a moment to grow
He is tall and handsome
And wants to dry all of my tears

I have a man who is strong and praises my world
Who protects me from the disasters of life
He may not dance but does try when I ask
And his sense of humor matches well with mine

I have a man who is loving, playful and wild
Who releases my wild side, is cheerful
And is funny, strong and protecting
In his arms I feel safe and beyond our years

I have this man and I believe he is the one
This is the one that will be by my side
His traits are all that I search for
I wished for the man
And he arrived
No more wishes for me

Victims

Around the corner from my home
Stands a barn that's far from repair
Broken windows
Shedding roof
The walls barely hold on
This is where the bodies are hidden

Under the barn where the horses once stood
Lies freshly filled graves
Where the musk of old rotting soil
Covers the scent of rotting flesh
Breathe in if you dare
This is where the bodies are hidden

Within the falling walls lie skeletons
Their loose jaws grinning wickedly
Staring with empty sockets
Into your living breathing soul
Keep looking if you dare
This is where the bodies are hidden

Gaze up into the rafters
Where sky and stars wink through the shedding roof
And victims arm dangle and sway
By the way of an untamed breeze
Listen to the creak of the wood against bone
This is where the bodies are hidden

This is where the bodies lie
Within shallow graves and cold winters
Of small animals trapped within the maze of humans
Trapped with no way out
Remember that these bodies lie in your home
This is where the bodies are hidden

Sticks and Sand

If I had a stick in the sand
And I was to draw a line
To show how much I loved you,
It would reach from where you stand,
Around the beach,
Across the waters,
Through towns of no names, and
Through cities that never sleep.
It would jump over houses
Where sleeping babies lie, and
Where those who used to be small infants
Turn in their sleep.
It would duck into bottomless chasms, and
Over unreachable and undiscovered heights.
It would pass thorough well tended gardens, and
Patches of stubborn moss on north-side rocks.
It would pause at miracles, and
Speed past war and pain.
Through the rain, and
The snow, and
The burning sun,
The line I draw would continue.
Until it reaches the back of your feet
As you wait so patiently for me,
To complete the circle,
The circle that never ends.
That is how much I love you.

To You Two

Though the rain may pour
Maybe for a few days more
It is a good night to go out
Though our allergies make us shout!
With a hug and a kiss
I send you a little wish
That your boots stay dry
And I can't wait to see you tonigh'

To You One

Hi Honey!
How's your day?
I just wanted to say
That I love you
And I know you love me too!
I hope your day goes fine
And no one steps out of line
Oh baby, you are so mine
And I can't wait till tonight we dine!

The Hospital Visit

It wasn't a needle that struck me, it was nail. A finger nail from the older woman that I had met in the alley way behind Ally's Alley. I had fainted from fright, exhaustion, who knows what else.

I woke up to Rascal looking over me at the hospital. My first initial thought was that we were both dead because the way that he was looking over me and his head was blocking the light which gave the impression that the light was a halo. Rascal was concerned, for once.

"Baby, you've been out for two weeks. What the hell happened?"
My voice croaked as I attempted to speak for the first time. "I was hoping you'd tell me."
"Jack found you down behind Ally's, passed out and we've been trying to wake you up since!"
"Ally's Alley?"
"Yea, did you go down there for a round? After hours?" He looked at me like I was up to no good and my heart sank past the hospital bed, for that was true. I was up to no good that night, and well, I was hoping in that moment that my feeling of guilt wasn't read all over my face as well.

"Can you get me something to eat? I'm starved."
"Sure, that's fine, just wait here."
"It's not like I'm going anywhere."
Rascal smirked and left the room, leaving the door just slightly ajar. I could see beyond the door into the hallway, white walls, white floors, pale lights. One just past my range of sight was flickering... it was really annoying. I finally had a chance to look around my own room. There was a curtain on my left, seperating me from the other patient in the room, if there was one. It was as silent as the grave over there.

I tried to piece the night that I remembered last together, from deciding to go out with Jack after his shift, to getting to the bowling alley, to seeing that woman. Who the hell was she?

The blinking light finally quit and died down the hall. As well as the next five lights that led up to my door. The hospital blankets don't give you too much to warm up to, as I soon discovered that a draft came through the open door. I buzzed for the nurse using the bed monitor for another blanket and closed my eyes. I figured it was just me waking up a few weeks after some weird reaction to the coma (if that was the right word) and I was just imagining things. Lights don't go out in succession like that, turning on maybe, but not turning off.

I heard the curtain next to me snap back, but I kept my eyes closed. I didn't want to give the appearance that I was awake, nor available to talk. But as I closed my mind to all that was in my room, and concentrated on the returning footsteps to my room, I could feel myself floating away again, and that stab once more. This time it was in my arm, but I fell once more into the darkness that I now feared.

Fishing

Imagine me as a fisher girl
Out on the lake for the day
With a pole in my hand
And my bait in the other
I'm ready to fish all day

Now, the law says you can only catch
Certain fish on certain days, in certain ponds
And to watch out for the leeches and mussels
Oh, and throw back the too small ones
But those are pretty simple rules to follow

So, here I am, in my little canoe
With my pole in one hand
And a drink in the other
I'm ready for a good day of fishing
Just waiting for the bite
From the BIG WHOPPER
That one every fishing girl wants to catch

Some days I'll get a nibble
Or I'll catch something that's too small
Or that fish that doesn't look good
Or even that I've the law says I can't have
So I'll throw those all back
And stick around a little longer for that one
That BIG WHOPPER
That all the fishing girls want to catch

Now, think of the pond as my own life
And my pole as my character
The hook as my charm
And the bait as my personality
But I'm not quite ready to 'fish' yet

For I forgot to explain the laws
About the different 'fish' that I can't have yet
And I bet you're wondering who made up those laws
And quite simply, it's the One who knows more than us
It's God, and he has a better plan for me than I can imagine

I'll let him choose the right time, the right place
And the right moment
For me to find the one that I'll be talking about for years
(Even if its just to make the other fisher girls jealous)
I'm going to wait, and be patient, like a good fishing girl

But in the meantime I'm just enjoying the view
In my little canoe, in my little pond
With my pole in one hand
My drink in the other
In the palm of His hand

I'm not Ready

Hi darling,

     I thought you should know
    That although I'm feeling low
I'm glad to have you at my side
     For this really bumpy ride

Hi baby,

     Please hold me steady,
     Because I'm not ready,
     I'm not going to lie,
     To tell him goodbye

Oh honey,

     Give me your hand,
So you can help me land,
     After this nightmare,
     Life can be unfair.

Sweetheart,

     Thank you for being there
It shows me how much you really care
I couldn't see it another way
Let tomorrow come, it's just another day
