Thanks, "Beauty Queen"

Word of the Day:
Oppugn: to assail by criticism, argument, or action

This is bringing a story into mind, a personal experience that as always, involves your very dear blogger friend.  Who is constantly hungry. (Feed me please!)
As many of you may know... I LIKE FOOD! And I'm skinny. Okay, I'll admit it. But I won't admit it to anyone's face. Yet.

Anyways. I've been picked on in school for being one of those naturally skinny girls who eats and eats and eats and has such a fast metabolism with no explanation.  This brought on the quiet taunts.

Finally one bully (because that's what I realize that is what they all were, it has taken me going on three years to admit it, cause I didn't realize it at the time. Idiotic me. Well anyways, after all this time when knowing all these girls in high school one of them finally came up to me and goes:

"What is it with you? I've always see you always eating something!"

Well, how do you respond to that when your mouth is full of a granola bar? Honestly! You know, I always had to eat because I was always hungry, no other reason about it. I had classes all day, sports in the afternoon and occasionally play practice if it was during the winter.

Leave the poor skinny minnie me alone! I like food! I don't need a food bully, the emotional toll was one thing, with the clothes, the hair, the language and the like, but I didn't need the food comments! I'm going to eat food till the day I die and none of those she-dogs is going to stop me!

I Will Never End

Last night I woke up late and it was back again
That noise I could hear.
I didn't know
what it was at first,
So I fell back into my dreams,
But the noise followed me into my dreams,
How odd I thought it was this noise was still in my dreams.
I let it continue

I let it continue
It wasn't only a noise in my dreams
It hadn't only followed me there
I couldn't fall back into my dreams
What was it at first
What did I know about it
That noise that I could just barely hear
Once more it arrived again in the morning

Again this night I heard the noises
Once more it was so scattered
I knew what it was
What it was after a while
I fell back into my dreams
And it followed me until I slumbered
I wished for it to discontinue

It didnt end
Even as I slept
There were no dreams
I knew that it became real life
I knew what I had become
I cannot run from the noise
As it becomes more evident in my mind

I'm alone with this tremendous noise
I am surrounded there is no turning back
I am the noise
I am existing here
Within your dreams
Even as you sleep
I will never end

Bones of Faerie

I had a friend of mine recommend this book to me after reading "Luck+Love" (which you can find the beginning to http://helpimalmostanadult.blogspot.com/2010/08/preteen-girl-in-me-says.html )

Bones of Faerie is about a world where the real world and the faerie world which has become a world of lore.  Liza, the main character, has decided to pursue the dissaperance of her mother and is harboring a dark secret that she can not tell no one, not even her father.  She begins her journey across the lands (much like the lands of the Hunger Games, with fences and such and forbidden forests... you may hear about my dislike of the Hunger Games freqently for the next few months. At least until it dies down like Twilight.) with a partner (male, of course... CAN THE HUNGER GAMES HAVE GOTTEN ANY MORE PLAGERISTIC??) who decides to protect Liza on her journey to find her mother.
On the journey, Liza and her male counterpart fight thier way through a forest, and into another village that may hold more secrets that she can handle at one time. Here the Healers decide that Liza is someone is worth saving and allow that someone to live in the world and continue on thier journey.
Along the way more travelers join the search in the quest to find Liz's mother who may or may not carry the gene to bring in the old world in with the new.
Can Liz find her mother? Will the Faerie world triumph? What is beyond the Golden Gate Bridge?
(I am so totally more into this than I am the Hunger Games let me tell you... it's got more of a story line than the terrible series! Here there is fighting, love, a hunt for another world, friendships won and family lost.... tell me where any of that truly exists in the Hunger Games and I will personally read the rest of the Hunger Games.)

Inverse Cards

Hello! I have an idea, why don't we make a few birthday cards today! It's one of those days when you have nothing to do but be creative, so let's get creative!

We need:

Construction Paper
Patterned Paper
Newspaper
A tracable object
Pencil
Scissors
Glue

1. Fold a color of construction paper of your desire in half.
2. Carefully trace out your tracable object with your pencil on the front side of the card. (Can go off of the page, does make the cutting easier.)
3. Cut out the penciled in object, erase any lines that may still be left.
4. Open the card, on the side that has the cut out glue the patterned pieces of paper (and newspaper if you desire) FACE DOWN on the flap on the card. Be careful that you dont glue your card to the table. Wait for the card to entirely dry before doing anything else.
5. Turn the card over and voila! A beautiful homemade card that you made.

Mine is for my grandpa, it was his birthday this month! ☺ Happy Crafting!

Killer

We know why we haunts the world.

We know why we lust for blood, but the lust will never be quenched.
We know why we want to kill, but the feeling will never be satisfied.
We know why we hunt, but we never become full.
We know why we are, but we cannot grasp the when.

We know why we haunts the world.

We kill the souls so that we might live.
We rape the lands so that we might grow.
We plunder the goods so that we might flourish.
We demolish the world so that we might become something.

We know why we haunts the world.

We are self centered.
We are narcissistic.
We are blemished.
We are unloved.

We know why we haunts the world.
We want it dead.
Unliving.
Barren.
Only livable for us.
We know why we haunts the world.

Snakes in the Classroom

Have you ever had a conversation with someone that suddenly sparked a funny memory? I had one of those today, when I was talking to someone from high school and suddenly I had flashbacks from Forensics class, senior year! I had a fun in that class, for a few different reasons!
The memory that was triggered involved a snake. Yes, one of those sneaky, slimy, slippery, icky creatures. My Forensics teacher really likes snakes, apparently. Every now and then our class would fall at the same time that it was feeding time for the snake. I wish I could remember it's name, but it was cute and green and.... missing.
One day it decided to go missing. The snake had a small enclosure where it had a mesh top, rocks to play in and a little food bin where my teacher put in the frozen mice and occasional noisy cricket. The tank sat in the front of the class where it didn't really bother anyone, unless if there was a cricket inside. A few times you could swear that the tank was moving, or the snake was for that matter, but really you were too involved in the class to really pay any attention.
A few days later our teacher announced that whatever we did we could not move the book that was on top of the snakes cage. Apparently the snake had been moving the lid of his tank and if he was able to move it far enough, could very well escape. Fair enough, leave the book there, and the snake can't get out. But what if the snake can move the book as well? Well, we learned that lesson just a few days afterwards.
The snake had figured out how to escape. For real. It had moved the lid, and the book and escaped. Who knows where it was! To hopefully trap the darn thing my professor left little petri dishes of frozen mice around the classroom FROZEN MICE. It was disgusting seeing little baby mice all over the classroom and still no return of the snake. What were we supposed to do then?
It took weeks but finally the little rascal decided to return to our classroom and be safe in his cage. We were fortunate, but honestly, who would have thought that he would have escaped again?

Great Idea: In God We Trust

Payback is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WRITE IT ON THE BACK OF YOUR ENVELOPES

Or front
WE THINK THIS IS A GREAT IDEA. WE'LL START WRITING IT ON THE
FRONT OF OUR ENVELOPES, TOO! ----------Including Bills

You may have heard in the news that a couple of Post Offices in Texas  have been forced to take down small posters that say
'IN GOD WE  TRUST ,'
The law, they say, is being violated.

Anyway, we heard proposed on a radio station show, that we should all write
' IN  GOD WE TRUST'  On the back of all our mail.
After all, that's our National Motto, and -----
All the money we use to buy stamps.
We think it's a wonderful idea.
We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed.

If you like this idea, please pass it on and DO IT. The idea of writing or stamping.......... 'IN GOD WE TRUST  On our envelopes sounds good to us ..
SOME PEOPLE ARE HAVING A STAMP MADE TOO........ Lets use it as our signature on e-mails, too!
It's been reported that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, we have a very hard time understanding why there's such a mess about having 'God We Trust!'  On our money and having God in the pledge of Allegiance.
Could it be that WE just need to take action and tell the 14% to 'sit down and shut up'?

If you agree, pass this on, if not, delete!!!
BUT REMEMBER IF YOU DELETE THIS,That's one reason why this world is in the mess we're in now.

WE SIT BACK & LET IT HAPPEN!!

IN  GOD  WE TRUST

Carrie

I'm really getting into the whole supernatural spooky theme, and I'm really not that surprised. After watching The Amity ville Horror and reading it to see how much of it was true (see link for direct link to the Amity ville Horror http://helpimalmostanadult.blogspot.com/2012/02/amityville-horror.html ) I decided to read Carrie, just for kicks. My library provided me with this copy of the book, after they inter library loaned it.

My mom told me not to read it to bed, but really, it wasn't that terrible to read in bed! I was able to read a few pages every night, and the story began to build. If any of you have seen the movie, it shouldn't be too different. It's next on my list to read, so I'll let you know how it goes if you haven't see it yet, like myself.
As it starts out, Carrie, the main character, gets her period. Now remember, this is the 1970's and a little bit different. Fortunately, there were still lockers room, it wasn't that long ago! Carrie was a bit of loner, with no friends and truly the but of every one's joke until senior year. She lived alone with her mother in a little house under a strict religious regimen. Her father passed away when she was too young to remember, and her mother had a miscarriage before Carrie even came into the picture. Her mother did not like Carrie and pretty much told her this everyday. With a mean mom and awful kids, and a sudden maturation, Carrie begins to sense a different kind of power within in her body.
Before long Carrie has mastered her new powers and uses them to develop control over her house and manages to snag a date for the Prom. As everyone knows, something bad happens at prom when it is in the movies or in the books, which I will not go very much into detail. In a nutshell, something goes wrong at Prom, which was supposed to be one of Carrie's shining moments, however, it did not go very well. It's not even mischief like in the Amity ville Horror ghosts, Carrie is a walking, talking terrifying creature that you would not want to meet in a dark alley. With or without pigs blood.
In the 1970's this book had rocked every one's worlds and the paranormal became something very frightening to think about, much less read about at night. If I was one of the first people to read it, I certainly would have slept with a night light and a working smoke alarm. And would have gotten rid of the fish tank. You know what happens when water and electricity is on the ground? It's not good, not good at all.
This is all from the great mind of Stephen King, who is by far, one of my favorite authors of the century. Thank you Stephen King for this great novel!

Fresh Out Of Luck

"Luck is what happens when preperation meets opportunity." - Elmer Leterman

Let's break this one down a bit. First off, what does it mean to be fresh? Often you hear 'fresh' labeled in front of food, like "FRESH FISH!!" or "FRESH FRUIT" at the supermarket. Sometimes 'fresh' is used to describe an attitude that needs to be adjusted in the home. For instance: "Jeremy is being so 'FRESH' today, he just will not do as he is told!" Other times 'fresh' is to describe a smell, like 'fresh flowers' or 'fresh poo.' I had to think of another example, forgive me for the childish term... I was being 'fresh!'

Moving on to the term 'out'. The term could mean a direction, such as someone moving from 'out' to in and so forth. You could be 'out' of your mind like I often am... My mind checked 'out' and has not checked back in. It has left the building, it is long 'out' of sight, all terms to mean that it is gone, missing... it is becoming very hard to not to use the word out in the description.

Of... haven't a clue on how to describe this.

Luck. LUCK! Luck of the Irish, Full'a luck, and lucky as the day is long. Luck is some times pure coincidence, just connivance or perhaps you were in the right place in the right time. Some believe in luck charms, good luck phrases and good luck procedures, such as not washing your game socks until the end of the season. Uh, ew?

To be fresh out of luck though, means to be well, out of luck and stuck in the mud. You'll have to rely on your ingenuity to get yourself out of the situation.  Sorry, can't help you much there. Unless if you listen to Leterman mentioned earlier, somethings just happen in the best way. I believe everyone has luck, whether it is in the form of a lucky penny or are just born with luck. Every one has their days that are up or down, and days where the luck runs out or appears with no warning. Try eating some Lucky Charms, maybe that will boost your luck for a little while!

Have a luck filled day!

Retro '80's

This outfit wasn't that bad, it was nice when walking in between buildings on campus and when I stepped inside the warms ones it was nice again because I didn't feel too hot nor too cold. This is an oversized salmon pink sweater with a stretched neck line that exposes one of my shoulders. I matched it with a black beater underneath and blue capri's. For shoes I could have gone with the uggs even (they haven't many appearances in a while!) but I ended up wearing my brown flip flops!

I may start looking for more sweaters like this, I like how it hangs off of my shoulder, and with the french braid that I put into my hair for the day, I really did look like an '80's girl! And as always, it was well under $20. I have been thinking, the more that you wear an outfit, the less you really paid for it. Think about it. Say you did buy that top for $20. And you wore it 20 times, the shirt basically paid for itself! Try that next time you're out shopping, add in how many times you're really going to wear that shirt. Is it really worth to buy it when it is not on sale?

Sound Off [15]

"You can pick your friends, but not your family."

This also ties in with another quote that I've heard, that my mom told me that you should just let poeple go in your life that you do not need. Or are just plain hurting you. Every day you make a connection and make a new friend, but the instant that something goes wrong, you start to question the relationship. You wonder why the friendship started, you start to wonder how the relationship came to be

Family though, you're pretty much stuck with them. You're born into a family, or adopted into a family and that's where you will remain. But like your friends, you will find people that aid, or hinder you in life. Family, they typically are there to help you. Don't listen to the sitcoms, family is there to love and support you. Most of the time. When you come home with a new tattoo and a pierced tounge... I don't have an answer for thier behaviors.

We're all in this world together, so I think it is to your advantage to know who you are choosing to be your friends, and who you leave out in the cold may be the one person that you need tomorrow to fix a problem, or just be that someone that you can lean on.

We all know who members in our family are, after all, we were born knowing them! We just do not know our friends, or who could be our friends. Remember: "A stranger is someone we don't know yet." We never know what they will bring to the table, or how they are going to change our minds or how they are going to help us in the long run. We just know that they are there, all we need to do now, is be there for them.

- On a semi-related note: Can you tell who the friends are and who the family is here? No? Good. That's because they're all beautiful to the individual in the family. -

Adventure

"It's the adventure of a life-time;" That's what the leader of the group tells you,
The brochure states life-long friendships,
Tall-tales and never ending lessons.

The first moment is confusion and fast words,
Long lectures, laying down the rules, location of the loo,
Fast pace, explanations, exclamations and apologizies too,
Then the day begins.

It's scary, no one told you that,
When you go in you have to go in feet first,
Or you learn the last and that's the worst,
Last picked, last chosen, last one to eat as well.

Some pick up quickly and move along quick,
You stay mainstream and watch for the clues,
Are they coming? Are they going? Is this wrong?

Eventually we find the groove and move with the music,
Knowing where to to be when we're needed and so forth,
The end of the trail becomes nearer and a chill falls over the crowd,
The end of the road is almost here and who knows what it means.

The brochure never mentioned how hard it would be,
To realize how many friends we did make, and the lessons we did learn,
The guide never did mention how much pain we would go through,
To learn the awful truth, and to be the person we want to be.

The worst of all, the brute of the words hit me soon after,
When I realized that I'd be leaving you behind after we said goodbye,
Because I would not only be saying goodbye to you,
But I would be saying goodbye to the person I used to be.

Popcorn Night!

As many of you know, I am a college student and part of the wildlife here... meaning I am one of the vice-presidents of one of the clubs. And as VP of this particular club, we get to do fun stuffles! Such as hosting multiple fundraisers! This time around we decided to try our hand at hosting a Popcorn Night!

You need:
Popcorn makers (2 if making for many people and many batches)
Brown paper bags
Chocolate M&Ms
Graded Cheese
Caramel

Directions:
Pop your popcorn!
*If you are using a popcorn machine.... please follow the directions properly
**If you are using a bag of microwavable popcorn... please follow the directions properly
***If you are popping kernels of popcorn in a brown paper bag.... please be extremely careful as it is HOT and wait for all the kernels to stop popping as you proceed. Pop until you no longer hear any kernel going off in a 2 second popping period and remove  (carefully) immediately!

Pick your poison!
*Put your popcorn in a big bowl and add in which ever ingredient you so wish. If you don't like a lot of flavor, don't add it. These are all just suggestions, you can always just eat your popcorn plain! Just don't forget the three magic words: MIX MIX MIX!!

And as always.... ☺ ENJOY! ☺

Double the Profit

I picked this little number up on my way walking in between stores on a warm weekend. Literally, someone was wearing it and I thought why not grace her with the best form of flattery, Imitation!

The first way I wore this outfit is pictured above, with the green patterned tank top and a off white tank top underneath to make the colors pop. Over the top ensemble was a brown sleeveless no button shirt! The brown brought out the brown that was in the shirt; if you recall I wore the same shirt with a white no button shirt and the white popped out instead. ☺

Another outfit that came out of the number I saw walking the streets was using the same outfit BUT I replaced the green tank top with an off white shirt. With this combination I was able to wear more green jewelry to accent the green shorts that I was wearing also. The only downside to this outfit was how short the shorts were... I stuck to the seats in class!

Best part? The entire outfit was less than $20, jewelry, thong flip flops and smile included!
