"Always be yourself. Unless if you can be ___________, then always be ____________"
Oy. I don't know about you but I'm annoyed by these already. Really, really annoyed. Let's start from the beginning. First off "Always be yourself."
You should always be yourself. Don't dress up and be someone else when you're on a date with someone. Daffy Duck just did that to impress his girlfriends father when really, all he needed to do was be himself because that is what her father wanted the most. Her father wanted someone who was confident and bold, and not afraid of a few adventures in one day. The idea of his daughter dating someone who was gung-ho about work and only work, he wanted someone who loved his daughter and was able to have some fun while doing it. Daffy learned this lesson the difficult way, and was much happier after. If you're going to be 'someone else' to impress someone, that person is NOT worth your time. Absolutely NOT worth your time. Be yourself. If that person cannot accept you for who you are, then they're not worth it in the very least.
Now, if being yourself means that you act on undesirable desires, then yes, please change your attitude, reasons for acting this way. If people are stating that you are not someone that they wish to spend time with because you act in such a way, then I plead that you change that one undesirable trait, or leave that trait at home. Someone will find that trait desirable, but not today. You'll find yourself with more friends this way.
"Unless if you can be xyz..."
Now who are you trying to be? Someone that is seen as being heroic I hope. Someone with some guts, glory and a reason to be good in this world. A little bit of good goes a long way in this crazy world. If you're going to put on a different costume than your own, put on one that does more good than bad please, we need a little more hope each day.
"... then always be xyz."
No, no, NO! This is just asking for

Blow Your Horn
Little Boy Blue come blow your
horn,
The sheep's in the meadow the cow's in the corn.
But where's the boy who looks after the sheep?
He's under a haystack fast asleep.
Will you wake him? No, not I - for if I do, he's sure to cry
The sheep's in the meadow the cow's in the corn.
But where's the boy who looks after the sheep?
He's under a haystack fast asleep.
Will you wake him? No, not I - for if I do, he's sure to cry
I'm in a bit of a nostalgic mood today, and upon research, found out that this poem really is not what we thought at first it meant! I thought it was about a little lazy Shepard's son, who neglects his job and the animals start wandering.
In reality the story is largely based on a young scholar who liked to 'blow his horn' about graduating early. Gee, if you were around now, I'd wish that you didn't talk about it so much. I'd write a poem about you too talking about how you are such a smarty pants. And commemorate you as a little boy. He he.
I'm sticking this under cliche, because don't we all know someone that likes to 'blow their horn' a lot? Sometimes that person likes to talk about how good they are in one subject, or how they are with a particular set of skills. Let's stop using this cliche ourselves and SHUT UP! If there is discussion about how we are good about a certain something, fantastic! Let's be modest and change the subject. Compliment someone else on something their good at, and let them be on the pedestal for the day.
Let's be modest, people, and let others have the spotlight.

Blows everything out of the water
Good luck, sailor.
It's one of those moments when you are thinking that life is going a-okay for you. Your job is going well, school is going well, your friends are acting pretty sane for the most part and you have food on your table. But then, out of the blue something incredibly aweful happens and turn it all upside down. Can you imagine how this might go down? I can, sometimes. I can see my life as a ship sailing along on the ocean blue, raising the flags on good days and on the bad days batting down the hatches and waiting for the squall to pass through. On the very worst days, when I hear of something that blows my ship apart, I think about what is left in the wreckage. I can see that I planned ahead and packed a floating box full of items that I might need to get out of this mess. As I'm treading water, I keep my lift jacket handy, with my flashlight and whistle ready to be used at the time of need. In my floating rescue box, I have my small little inflatable life raft and a few provisions. I have my rain jacket, a fishing line and another flashlight, but right now, I'm doing okay, since I'm pretty close to land!
When you feel that everything is about to blow on your end, try to grab a few things, or people that you know will be trustworthy enough to help you float in the water after the aftermath. You never know if you're going to need these things or not, but it might be good to have them.

You, Me and Your Worst Enemy
- Martin Luther King Jr.
It's rude of me to question a saying of a wise man, but isn't it better to understand than to not like something if I don't understand it? As for this quote, I understand completely. Take Facebook for instance. Just today someone that I recently became friends with made a very rude comment to which I unfriended him for. His friends are mad for making the comment, and the friend that he tagged in the comment is furious. I'm assuming that the silent unfriending that is going on is speaking volumes to this character and he is chastising himself for such a comment. We have not become his enemies, but are giving him the fuel to judge his own self.
"Choose your friends carefully. Your enemies will choose you."
- Yassir Arafat
Quite often we find ourselves with a new character in our life. Some how this character can be beneficial, as in can help you fix your car or knows how to save at the nearby grocery store. These friends are handy and quite often indispensable. Here I should also add, be nice to everyone. Your kind gesture may turn their day around. However, when you are rude or inconsiderate, then you have made an enemy. You suddenly have a target on your back. Imagine that you're back in middle school, the breeding ground for gossip, false friends and first period gym class. On your first day you bumped into the cheerleaders captians little sister and spilled her homework all over the floor. Suddenly you hear taunts and cheers of being clumsy, an idiot and so forth. But she doesn't say anything rude. Instead, she cleans up her homework, with your help and you both apologise and move on. You've made a ten second friend. On the other hand if you hadn't helped and let her be, why would you help the next it girl anyways, you've made yourself the target and no one will help you. You've found yourself with enemies when this was a chance to make a few friends.
- Antisthenes
Words can hurt and they can heal. When they hurt, sometimes people feel that the best way to make that hurt go away is to pass on the hurtful words. Some girls are told that they are too fat, when they're as thin as a bean pole, and tell the next person in line that they are too. Some boys are told that they aren't tall enough to do a sport, so the pass it on to the next person saying that they're too dumb to play. Words hurt, when they shouldn't. Words some times kill too, they're our greatest weapon. The person that you allow yourself to hurt you, has become in control of you because you allow that comment to destroy you. Next time you hear a rude comment toward yourself, think about the person that said it to you. Often when I'm on the internet, I hear that the skinny girls need to eat more. When I see this I wonder about the subjects self esteem. Is she going to take this to heart? Who is really saying this to her? Are these people losing thier temper because they see a skinny person who happens to be that body type naturally and they're made because they're not? Or are these people her friends and have noticed an eating pattern in their friend and they're concerned?
As a closing statement, if I was ever stuck on a deserted island with you, myself and my worst enemy, I would say my worst enemy is the mirror, because all I can see is myself. And what I see in myself sometimes is not the most postive person that I can be.

Fresh Out Of Luck
"Luck is what happens when preperation meets opportunity." - Elmer Leterman
Let's break this one down a bit. First off, what does it mean to be fresh? Often you hear 'fresh' labeled in front of food, like "FRESH FISH!!" or "FRESH FRUIT" at the supermarket. Sometimes 'fresh' is used to describe an attitude that needs to be adjusted in the home. For instance: "Jeremy is being so 'FRESH' today, he just will not do as he is told!" Other times 'fresh' is to describe a smell, like 'fresh flowers' or 'fresh poo.' I had to think of another example, forgive me for the childish term... I was being 'fresh!'
Moving on to the term 'out'. The term could mean a direction, such as someone moving from 'out' to in and so forth. You could be 'out' of your mind like I often am... My mind checked 'out' and has not checked back in. It has left the building, it is long 'out' of sight, all terms to mean that it is gone, missing... it is becoming very hard to not to use the word out in the description.
Of... haven't a clue on how to describe this.
Luck. LUCK! Luck of the Irish, Full'a luck, and lucky as the day is long. Luck is some times pure coincidence, just connivance or perhaps you were in the right place in the right time. Some believe in luck charms, good luck phrases and good luck procedures, such as not washing your game socks until the end of the season. Uh, ew?
To be fresh out of luck though, means to be well, out of luck and stuck in the mud. You'll have to rely on your ingenuity to get yourself out of the situation. Sorry, can't help you much there. Unless if you listen to Leterman mentioned earlier, somethings just happen in the best way. I believe everyone has luck, whether it is in the form of a lucky penny or are just born with luck. Every one has their days that are up or down, and days where the luck runs out or appears with no warning. Try eating some Lucky Charms, maybe that will boost your luck for a little while!
Have a luck filled day!

Best of Both Worlds
If anyone out there has been near small children when the show "Hannah Montana" was on the show, then you may have heard of her song "Best of Both Worlds" where she explains how she is a regular girl during the day then at night she's a pop star singing to sold out concerts and the like. Of course, we all know as an audience that she really doesn't act this way, she is just a character on a show who only sings well because her father was a singer at one time too. Have been - Has been characters!
In her song though, she discusses the positives of having the "best of both worlds" where she can meet hundreds of famous people, dress in different fabulous ways and still be able to sing to a wide audience.
On the other hand, since her name "Hannah Montana" is fake, she can use this as a disguise and have a normal life without the concerts, the flashing lights and be a normal person without fans running up to her screaming and asking for her autograph. Eventually she takes of the guise because she wants to live just one life, but it was neat to see how she could take two different and live both lives separately.
In the old show "Alf", the alien once mentions how it was fabulous to live in a humans house because he gets all the benefits of living there and still be an alien. He is able to have many opportunities that he hadn't before (such as more food) and be able to tinker around in the family garage like he used to do on his old planet.
As a college student I've seen a variety in the 'best of both worlds.' To list a few, I've seen mothers go to college and leave their child at home with a family member and are able to enjoy a few hours as a college student. But when they return home they greet their child and are ready for a few fun filled hours before the child goes to bed.
There are other times when a social outcast is given the chance to be somebody and jumps on the chance, however when he or she returns home, they're back to being an online celebrity and doesn't come back out of the shell until another wild party arrives. Or someone is a social butterfly and enjoys the life she can lead by spending time with her friends, then does activities with her family completely different than what she does with her friends and have just as much fun.
We all have this 'best of both worlds' inside of each and everyone one of us. I think it should be called our little superheros. When we go to school or to work we are one person, but when we return home we look different. Maybe we like to go and eat lunch with friends and have a fabulous time, but when the day is done, the best part of the night is reading a book to your child just so they will go to sleep.
Or perhaps you're like me and are a college student. I attend school most of the year, being with friends and studying (of course) but when I do go home, I sometimes enjoy the solitude of being in my own room and just sitting in my comfy spot doing a crossword puzzle or a small project. And when I'm home I also get home made meals which really makes it all worthwhile.

It takes a Village to Raise a Child....
You have probably heard some variation of this quote either when being with a child or discussing a child.
Nuclear Family
There are many people in one child's life, and it's not just limited to the child's parents. The child has his or her parents, of course, but then also siblings, younger or older, half or step, or non-existent, there is that feeling of having a connection in the family that is not the parents. If there is a pet in the family, maybe this is a substitute for a sibling (I'd never know, the closest pet I had was a rodent that constantly tried to bite me and fish that loved to die really fast).
Outside Family
These people include but are not limited to grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-grandparents, great-aunt's uncles, and other people that may be involved in your family. Members of your family that are related through marriage, children, divorce (sometimes), wedlock and other types of relationships count as outside family members. These people help in the child's life because they have a special part. Perhaps the uncle teaches the child how to skate, the great-grandmother teaches the child how to knit and the step-uncle teaches the kid how to make their own bow and arrow.
Teachers
When every child is taught something, the person that did their teaching is called their teacher. This goes beyond the child's in school educator and such. In school children learn something, it may not be street smarts like their Uncle Chuck can teach them, or how to cook like how Mom does, but they do learn. Possibly how to read, tell time, variations in colors, how to do math and other life-lessons that sometimes are taught at home, but are improved in the classroom. These people become a part of the child's life as well.
Religious Figures
Some families have religious figures in their homes, and follow different religious customs. Sometimes the child may agree with them, other times they may not and just follow along in the book, which-ever book it may be. The poeple that guide the child through their religious life become a part of the 'village' that is created to raise the child.
Health Personel
Every child comes into the world somehow, with some medical hand to help. From day one there is care coming from someone who knows how to take care of the child, and is able to help the mother through any medical help she may need. When the child is older, there is someone medically knowledgable to help with sickness, checkups and with major or minor bumps and brusises that the child may go through.
These people and many more make up a child's lifestyle and assist the child in anyway that they can. One person cannot help the child 'grow,' It takes many many different people from many different backgrounds, education and experiences. It is not just you who makes a difference in a child's life, it is the health personal, teachers, outside family and the nuclear family. Be aware of who is in your child's life, sometimes the people that are there are harmful, other times they are there to lend a helping hand.

Kill With Kindness
We've all heard this phrase before, we absolutely love somebody or something practically to death and well, they really stop loving us or have been so loved that they need to go on up to the 'loved so much' shelf in the room. Kissy Kissy Love Love Love!
Or have you ever wanted to kill somebody that you really just wanted to put them out of thier misery because they are so happy? Time to pull out the light sabers and the self defense right?
Other people you really just want to hug them so tight and sqeeze them so much that they have no where to go and you love them so much!! Kind of like when a cobra squeezes you so tight you can't breathe....
Okay maybe not that much, I'm sure the other person feels like they're being attacked by pirahnas and really can't go anywhere and wish that you would just go away.... Like that annoying aunt who grabs your cheeks at any age and goes "Oh Look How Cute You Are!!!"
A tactic that can ward off those lovely people that want to kill you with thier kindness is by biting them on anywhere you can find. Those poor suckers... I've been bitten before and it's ... interesting. As for me I'm gonna get rid of the meaness in your body and just squeeze it out of you! *Hug* *Hug* *Hug* OW!
Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best approach. I could tell you though, that if you try to kill you best frenemy with kindess, be warned of the various poisons that could be headed your way....
I keep checking my apples and drinks in case if she decides to make a comeback and poison any of my food. I really only wanted to be her friend, I swear! I just ended up killing her with kindess....

Two Shakes of a Lambs Tail
Everyone may have heard this quote at one time or another, in one form or another and it still doesn't lose its, cute charm. I only say cute because lambs are ADORABLE. Okay, what were we discussing? Right, two shakes of a lambs tale.
Oh don't tell me that I'm putting you to sleep, it's no fun to talk to people like that! so two shakes of a lambs tale means to move quickly, or something moves quickly. Such as a shake of a lambs tail.
... or sheep ducky. Which ever one you prefer! I actually own this one, but unfortunately, the poor things tail is frozen in plastic wool! To get back to the topic, two shakes of a lambs tail can certainly mean to be be very quick about it. Unless of course if the lamb only shakes his tail once, but does that mean that the lamb only twitched? I'm a little confused... Oh look! Another lamb!
I will try to keep up to date with the blog posts, and try my best to it as quick as two shakes of a lambs tail, as I have seen lambs before (they are more adorable than they are in these pictures!) and their tails do move very fast! Keep moving quickly!
Look how cute it is! It's like its saying "Get on with it lady!" Oh, wait okay. Harrumph. I'm not 100% positive about the original date that the phrase came to be, but it is adorable all the same.
Oh don't tell me that I'm putting you to sleep, it's no fun to talk to people like that! so two shakes of a lambs tale means to move quickly, or something moves quickly. Such as a shake of a lambs tail.
... or two. Te he. Look how cute they are! He he he he! Or what if two lambs shake their tails at the same time? Does this mean that you have to be doubly fast? Like, you have to move on the double? How curious. Or what if there is three lambs? then you have to move really, really fast? Dear, I'm getting ahead of myself.
I think I'll stick to the definition of the lamb moving its tail from one side to the other twice, and you need to move as fast as that tail can move. Unless if course its as fast lightning, but that is super fast, and sounds like another cliche post... hmm?

To Each His Own
Opinion:
When I first became more aware of this quote, I thought of is it as an opinion. For certainly, everyone has their right to their own opinion. Each person carries with them their own original ideas. Every bird flies a different way, as each person speaks in a different dialect. No two snowflakes are alike, as such, no two persons are alike as well. Compare two twins. In every twin there is a difference, whether one has a different chin size or the birthmark that is on the left buttock of one twin is on the right buttock of the other twin.
Although I may have an opinion about certain things, such as I am not prone to holding a cat, some one else may say that holding cats are very therapeutic. The phrase "To each his own" would certainly come into play here.
Examples:
Eliza: "I don't like the color yellow."
Beth: "Why not? It's my favorite color?"
Eliza: "Eh, to each his own I guess."
Beth: "True, I don't like blue as a matter of fact."
Eliza: "Really! That's my favorite color!"
Beth: "Oh, to each her own I suppose!"
Derek: "I don't like panda bears."
Dorothy: "Truly? But they're so cuddly!!"
Derek: "To each his own."
Dorothy: "Wait, what?"
What is your opinion?
