Open Road

You never know how
                                  Solitary
You really are until you are
                                            Alone
On the Open Road.

Nothing for miles but a
                                     Single
Set of Car light,
                                     No
others for miles.

It is however
                     Peaceful
Knowing that you are
                                 Alone
With only your
                       Thoughts
To keep you
                   Company.

Often you can hear the
                                   Echoes
Of your lonely
                       Heart,
Begging for even a
                              Whisper
Of a passing person.

The moon will play
                               Tricks,
Convincing you that someone is
                                                  There
When only it is playing with your hair.

Shadow upon shadow is left
                                             Behind
And one by one the stars go
                                            Out.
Not much more is to be
                                     Seen
Or
    Felt
Or
    Heard
Even by
             You,
The
      Only
Person traveling on the long
                                            Lonely Road.
