League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Woof. I mean look at Agent Sawyer! If that's not a reason to watch this movie, then shoo. Go watch Twilight or something just as terrible. Agent Sawyer works for the United States, and guess who he really is, Tom Sawyer! Oops, I'm getting ahead of myself, but who would have thought that he would turn out to be so good looking? Oh and Sean Connery (Who Will Never Die) is in here too. Did I mention that I'm a fan of him too?

Anyways (tears eyes away from Sawyer) the scene is set for the 1900's, a time for new inventions, dastardly evil deeds and a need for a super hero. Or seven. The "Fantom" is terrorizing England and Germany with new war tactics and an army that is human, but just won't die. A band of legendary characters bands together to bring down "Fantom", namely, The Invisible Man, a Vampress (one of Dracula's brides, and other book review coming later), Dorian Grey (and another book review coming later), Captian Nemo (no, not the fish Nemo), Tom Sawyer, and Dr. Jeykll / Mr. Hyde. Fantom manages to get into Allan Quartermain's head that he's going to destroy the powerhouse cities which prompts Mr. Quartermain to build his own army.

Everyone has a mini back story, where everything plays out in the drab bits which makes everything a bit more interesting, and less drab! The Invisible Man reveals how he became invisible, and how much fun it is to be invisible; the vampress loves seducing men and then bites their heads off... figuratively of course. Then there's Dorian Grey who is so full of himself that he doesn't see it himself. Captian Nemo has a kick ass ship and car, he's kind of a before-Iron Man that's how awesome he is. Then theres the dreamy Agent Tom Sawyer who works for the American Army; Dr. Jeykell & Mr. Hyde's story is pretty well known, but it does come in handy during the movie and then there's Allan Quatermain who mourns the loss of his son and swears revenge on the elusive 'M.' There's more to each story but you have to read the books, or just watch the movie!

Anyways, I know I'm not that helpful by playing up Tom Sawyer, but you wouldn't believe how this band of misfits turns out to be the best League. Better than the superheroes, but not better than the Harry Potter trio. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a little bit more untouchable than Harry Potter.

♥ Tom Sawyer ♥
